This and That Sunday

Cooking a square meal is anytime easier than putting together and assembling random dishes. Firstly it doesn't give you the joy of cooking and secondly I never find myself satiated after eating an assortment of random dishes. But one needs to honor the wishes of a growing teenager too, more so, if that teenager is a food critic and connoisseur of the highest order. So I find myself indulging in such 'this and that' days more often now.

It's not that we've never had such random menus back then. But it used to be limited to eating frugal but nutritious maharashtrian  dishes like 'kaccha chiwda, fodanichi poli and bhaat and sattuche peeth'. Made swiftly from routinely available (and at times leftover) stuff and made with love!

'This and that' Sunday that we had recently actually tired me out. These days one needs to plan before having a quick bite. What an oxymoron! We spent days in buying good quality pickled gherkins, olives, jalapeƱos, garlic and onion powders, different dressings etc etc. Along with these also sneaked in the everyday maharashtrian essentials like 'kala/goda masala', 'metkoot and mirchi thecha'. The only thing that didn't arrive was famous 'Saoji masala' from Nagpur, which in fact was the most eagerly awaited item by me.

So after quite some time spent in chopping veggies and stirring sauces, what came out on the plate finally looked like the following:
1. A soothing Pasta salad- all time favorite
2. Nachos with home made cheesy dip: Generic version of Dominos cheesy dip - reproducibility - around 90%. Could have been thicker.
3. Cajun spiced potatoes: again a generic version of Barbecue nation dish, reproducibility - around 95%.

Some efforts!  For wanting to eat just 'this and that'!
