From a shut down city - (posted originally on May 8, 2020)
Since last 8/9 days, all shops in Ahmedabad have been shut to ensure stricter control over the rapid spread. Only milk and medicines are available for a limited time of the day. That means we have been living without fresh vegetables/ fruits/ bakery and eggs and grocery since as many days. Since 'No Hoarding's has been my policy since the beginning, this sudden announcement put me in a fix. My stock of potatoes and tomatoes was near depletion, we had few slices of bread left, no eggs and few bananas that got over on day 1 of shutdown. It's specially difficult to serve 3 meals a day without these basic items. Breakfast is toughest as we do not like and prefer cereals. Today is the ninth such day.
But the show goes on - so, Ishan baked a eggless, butterless cake and made pasta for Mother's Day, we used the only remaining mango at home to whip home made icecream and made other dishes that did not require potatoes and tomatoes.
We were supposed to get veggies and fruits from today, but there's still no sign of it - the health screening of vendors is still going on. So keeping my fingers crossed. The vegetable rack in the refrigerator has never been so empty!
One thing is certain. The era of abundance is over for at least few months for us here, one more life lesson from this lockdown! And that such tough times do bring out the stronger you, is another!

Mango 🥠icecream at home is superb idea 💡 !!!!
